Catapult University Keeps Busy Educating Students
Set in the heart of the Appalachian mountains above Boone, NC at the prestigious Broyhill Inn, Catapult University is designed to bring end-users up to speed on the full capabilities of this powerful retail automation tool. ECRS recently implemented an enhanced class design featuring a greater degree of product knowledge and student interaction. Whether attendees are brand new to Catapult or have been using it for
years, a more focused hands-on approach to training helps deliver an optimum degree
of product knowledge during the four days of classes.
Recently, Catapult University graduated three seperate classes of newly educated end-users from its informative four-day software training school. All the students were enthusiastic about their learning experience and talked with us about how their class experiences will help them improve the way they do business.
A View From the Inside: What Graduates Are Saying
Daniel Rouse of New Leaf Maket in Tallahasee Florida said, “Catapult University is such a great idea! The Broyhill is in a good location and there is a really excellent view. The quality of instruction was well laid out and concise and I enjoyed the light atmosphere and the involvement with the my classmates. Also, I appreciated the intelligent and consistent manner in which the system is setup and its quick response time.”
Jesica Longhurst, the POS administrator at Gentle Strength Cooperative in Tempe Arizona said, “the quality of instruction was very thorough and I feel quite knowlegable about the system after having attended the classes. It was wonderful having an all co-op class and the schedule was perfect."
At the close of the sessions, Phil Gurda, the general manager of Henderson Community Co-op said he would definately recommend Catapult University to other retailers. “It gives you an excellent background in what to expect and helps formulate a plan of action for the first time user.”
On a lighter note, IT Director, Shane Remington of the Henderson Community Co-op said, “Mac daddy (instructor Mac Mast) is the man! I was impressed with his skill level and how well he communicated, in detail, showing students by example. I'm totally satisfied!” When asked whether he would recommend Catapult school to other users, Remington said, “absolutely, how could a business operate with full functionality without this class? It seems impossible.”
The September Catapult School offered some positive feedback to their educational experience.

Patricia Winters of Chapmans Variety Store in Columbus Georgia said, “Catapult University was enjoyable as well as informative. The Catapult system seems very user friendly and Catapult has taken into account all the the potential situations one may encounter at the POS.”
Chapmans President, Frank Comer said, “there were no questions we asked that the instructor didn't have an answer for. I really liked coming to the school before installing the system.” With more praise for Catapult instructor Mac Mast, Stacey Sprecher of Nutricurean health food store in Wyomissing Pennsylvania said, “Mac was fabulous! The class was paced appropriately with lots of opportunities for personal inquiries. A very comprehensive overview was provided and all the questions I asked were answered to my full satisfaction.”
Joseph Butler of Ron's Smoke Shop in Allegany New York commented that Catapult University is helpful when getting started. “The instructor spent time on any subject as needed and I enjoyed the small class size which allowed for individual attention.”
Store Manager Sandra Stanton added, “I enjoyed following along on our own computer step by step as the teacher lead the class.”
On the last day of class, Damien Ziruk, owner of Chatham Natural Market in Massachusetts said, “without question, Catapult University was highly useful and the instruction was excellent in every regard."
He added, “what I liked best about Catapult University was the southern humor.”
August Graduates Comment on Their Impression of Catapult University
John Rorer, the multi-store owner of Richard’s Whole Foods and Rollin Oats Market stores in Florida commented on the quality of instruction. “Mac Mast is very knowledgeable and proficient with the various applications, a very personable,
patient, and thorough teacher.”
When asked what he liked best about Catapult University, Rorer said he liked the simple process of learning. “I enjoy challenges and personal growth.”
John Whittaker, owner of Nutrition First health food store in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida said he would recommend Catapult University to other users. “I found exciting and useful features I didn’t know existed.”
Gavin Wisser, the Database Administrator of Life Source Natural Foods in Salem Oregon said that all of his questions about Catapult were clearly answered. “The class definitely seemed to take away from my sense of foreboding - I’m much more comfortable with the system now. I would absolutely recommend Catapult University to other users, otherwise the learning curve is too steep and without the class, it would be easy (for me) to make mistakes.” Alex Beamer, owner of LifeSource Natural Foods said, “the quality of instruction was great, we went into a good level of detail and covered a lot of material. Its a tremendous amount of material to absorb in just a few days, but Mac kept the class interesting and kept my attention engaged.”
The Catapult graduates will take their new found knowledge and put it towards growing their business and gaining more satisfied customers.
