ECRS has set the standard for self-checkout excellence with its sleek, smart City Market™ series. With designs ranging from the stand-alone kiosk, to the more traditional full lane units, City Market adapts to fit any retail environment. This enables small to midsize retailers to provide customers with the convenience of self-service options in their check out experiences.

Enhance Your Customer Service

Independent retailers are known for providing the highest level of customer service in a personalized shopping environment. This standard of customer service creates success in a crowded, big-box marketplace. Self-checkout, once thought of as a way to replace labor with impersonal technology, is now a service customers expect and appreciate. Self-service can help absorb traffic during peak hours, increase specific department sales, free cashiers to provide one-on-one floor assistance, reduce wait times, and accommodate a generation more accustomed to using technology in everyday life. Self-checkout can improve your level of customer service by allowing you to focus attention on those customers who need extra assistance while letting customers who want to get in and out do so in a timely, efficient manner.

Customizable Design & Configuration to Fit Your Specific Requirements

Because ECRS understands that not every retailer is the same, we offer self service options that are customizable to fit your needs. Design your unit based on cost, size, color, accepted payment type, specific department use – the possibilities are endless. Units are available as a stand-alone kiosk or in multiples with an Attendant Work Station (AWS).

Software Flexibility & Intelligence

The City Market product line works with ECRS-developed CATAPULT software or with third-party software platforms such as IBM ACE or IBM 4690. When used with CATAPULT point of sale, all transactional data from self-checkout stations is maintained within the same network allowing easy and accurate management of all store or chain data. Using modern Java technology, City Market allows you to add new functionality via software plug-ins quickly and easily. City Market CATAPULT users will enjoy the same benefits provided at the traditional point of sale such as customer loyalty, gift card, customer membership management, and secure electronic payment facilitation.

Intuitive User Interface and Design

Customers will resist using self-checkout if the unit lacks a commonsense transaction flow or requires extra effort to figure out how to process items such as produce. ECRS spent years researching and developing a user interface that any customer will appreciate. Easy to read prompts, colorful images, and audio will guide customers quickly and seamlessly through their checkout experience. All unit components are mechanically reliable, ergonomically located, central to the mind's eye, and follow a normal flow of checkout. Signature capture is completed at the card payment terminal and not a separate signature pad located inconspicuously elsewhere on the unit. The sapphire-glass scanner technology used in the City Market systems offers the highest scan rates in the industry. This ease-of-use alleviates customer frustration and brings them back again and again.
ECRS' City Market (TM) Kiosk can be used as a stand-alone unit or to compliment traditional self checkout configurations by mixing a smaller unit in with full lane units to accommodate on-the-go purchases. The Kiosk unit does not have a scanner/scale device and is designed for barcode item purchases.
The City Market (TM) traditional self checkout lane is available with single or multiple bagging platforms. This sleek unit was designed to fit smaller format stores and can be placed in a back-to-back configuration or against a wall.
