Catapult Automates EDS Byron Nelson Championship for Second Year Running
A Letter from Tournament Controller Teri Isaacs Jones
Dear ECRS: Thanks so much once again for your very generous donation of Catapult software to the EDS Byron Nelson Championship.
I also wanted to report the excellent results we have experienced with this year’s golf tournament fundraiser. Results were released to the press August 12. The 2004 EDS Byron Nelson Championship raised more than $6.09 million in net proceeds for charity this year, its sixth consecutive year to surpass $5 million. Since 1973, the championship has raised more than $81 million for charity.
Vendors like ECRS are what allow us to be so successful from year to year. On behalf of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, we wish to express our heartfelt appreciation for the very generous donation of Catapult software for our golf tournament fundraiser’s point-of sale-system. This support, along with Epson’s donation of hardware, freed up charity dollars, enabling our programs to serve additional at-risk children and their families.
The tournament originally incorporated Catapult software into our five on-course golf shops back in 2003. The ability to automate and barcode has significantly improved the functioning and performance of our merchandise sales area. The ability to create our own bar-coding allowed us to tag our merchandise this year with our own charity message, spreading the word about where the money goes. Being a one-week event, we were able to quickly run individual Sales and Inventory reports at the end of each day to provide to our 30 various vendors so crucial inventory buying/replenishing decisions could be made by the next morning. Our tournament was completely sold out of merchandise by the end of our event.
Our cashiers, primarily volunteers from the general public, are thrilled with Catapult's ease of use and speed of processing a transaction. Because our crowds are growing every year, we look forward to the enhancement of gift card processing for the 2005 tournament, as this will fully automate our entire checkout process.
As we know, even the best of software requires proficient technical support. Our local Catapult dealer continues to provide service and support over and beyond the call of duty. They have been associated with our tournament for more than ten years and we could not be happier. The combination of ECRS and our local Catapult dealer has been a winning relationship for the EDS Byron Nelson Championship.
The Salesmanship Club was founded in 1920 and has been serving children and their families since its inception. Our Club members, a group of 600 professional Dallas businessmen, and 1,200 volunteers from the general public, work tirelessly over several months to put on the single largest PGA Tour charity event.
The mission of our programs is to develop, validate and disseminate an effective model to address the needs of a growing non-Anglo underclass that is at-risk educationally, behaviorally and emotionally. This population of children-in-need currently comprises more than one-half of the young in urban school districts. Our programs, which include an accredited school serving three-year-olds through sixth grade inner-city students and a family counseling center for children and their families, are fast proving that disadvantaged children are capable of achieving high degrees of success, when placed in an accelerated and caring learning environment. Research and training are important components of our laboratory school’s mission, enabling each program to deliver innovative and effective services combining best teaching practices with current brain research.
The Salesmanship Club of Dallas is committed to providing the majority of funds necessary (90-95%) for program operational expenses, primarily raised through the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. ECRS’s dedication to innovation and service to the community is impressive, and coincides with our values of respectfulness, stewardship, and innovation. We are deeply grateful for your interest in our programs and are extremely grateful that the Salesmanship Club of Dallas is a recipient of your charity dollars.
Very truly yours,
Teri Isaacs Jones
