POS Hardware Integration: Embracing Industry Standards
Catapult is designed to work seamlessly right out of the box with hundreds
of name-brand POS terminals and peripherals. Catapult was the first off-the-shelf
product to fully embrace OPOS® (OLE for POS), the retail interface
standard for Microsoft Windows®, taking advantage of all the functionality
of your receipt printers, scanners, scales, and other peripherals, the
way the manufacturers intended.

Power at Your Fingertips
POS touch screen technology is a standard feature on Catapult.
This breakthrough in flexibility allows you to design the POS screen around
your specific requirements. While most systems offer a few choices at
the point of sale, Catapult POS screens  can
be set up in an endless variety of configurations, including location,
color, size, and font controls. Catapult also allows users to have an
unlimited number of configurable menus and prompts to organize and streamline
your cashier activity.
POS Redundancy - Why You Should Demand It!
Nearly all competing systems on the market today depend on a network
server for keeping the POS terminals up and running. The simplest
interruption in communications–a cable coming loose or a power supply
failure–will cause a domino effect and bring the entire POS system
to a standstill. This can mean big trouble for you when the network goes
down for any of a thousand reasons. Without access to necessary data,
you can't checkout customers. You lose profits and they lose patience.
Many competing systems provide quasi solutions to this problem, such as
scheduled item file preparations. However, users have found these techniques
to be disruptive, time consuming, and better in theory than actual practice.
Register EmulationTM
If you prefer cash register or desktop style keyboards at the checkout,
Catapult accommodates. The same flexibility found in the touch screen
interface is available for POS keyboard programming, allowing you to design
your keyboard layout to meet your exact needs. In many cases Catapult
can be configured to emulate the keyboard on your current cash register
or POS system, thereby significantly reducing the training time of your
cashiers. This concept of Register Emulation puts Catapult far ahead of
the competition. Our in-field results verify that it's not uncommon for
new cashiers to be trained to use Catapult's POS touch screen or keyboard-
based systems in as few as 15 minutes of use. We've simplified the POS
transaction sets to empower your cashiers to be more efficient
and effective customer agents.
RegisterGuardTM - The Redundant 24/7 Solution
Catapult is the one software solution you can trust to keep your store
checking out customers quickly and efficiently hour after hour,
day after day. After many years of design and development, ECRS has perfected
true POS data redundancy. RegisterGuardTM was designed
with you, the retailer, in mind. If the local network stops working, each
Catapult POS terminal continues to operate independently without relying
on the network to process transactions. Unlike competing system, RegisterGuard
assures that nearly all of your POS functionality continues to operate
as normal, even when your network has stopped functioning. Price promotions
will start and end as scheduled. Item lookups, customer lookups, house
charges, house payments and even credit, debit, and EBT continue to function
with little or no restrictions.* Once the network and POS terminals are
restored the system automatically updates the Catapult server. RegisterGuard
is fully automatic, requiring no scheduled item file preparation. The
